The recent overtures from Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) towards the BJP party has now left other parties in planning for new alliances with the GHMC elections all set to be held sometime soon. The MIM, which is seen as a close ally of TRS, is reportedly weighing options.

This is including reinstating the bond with its old alliance partner, Congress. Sources say that Congress party's president for Greater Hyderabad Danam Nagendar and MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi are in touch.

The MIM leaders, on record have stated that party will not be opting for any pre-poll alliance among any parties and they are only watching the developments for the ensuing GHMC elections.

Congress leaders are now seeing a clear advantage for the old alliance with reports of a TRS-BJP tie-up. The development is expected to boost the consolidation of minority votes in favour of Congress' favour which makes Congress and MIM combination a formidable as they had wrested the last GHMC polls. This is because of the fact that the minority votes, which forms over 40 per cent, would be playing a key role in the GHMC elections.
