With the approval of the CBI special court at Nampally in Hyderabad, the CBI authorities on Monday held into their custody Deccan Chronicle Chairman T.Venkattram Reddy and his younger brother and MD T.Vinayaka Ravi Reddy for investigation.

Subsequently the court allowed permission for taking them into custody, a CBI special team went to Chanchalguda jail around 1 PM and took the duo into their custody for examination.

The CBI had asked for 14-day custody for interrogation, while alleging that the accused were not cooperating with the ongoing investigation.The counsel of the accused, however, pleaded against the police custody besides opposing the investigating agency's move to shift them to Bengaluru in the event of police custody.

The court permitted CBI custody for both of them until Feb 27. The brothers were detained by the CBI previous Saturday for acquiring hundreds of crores of loans on reportedly fake documents from a public sector bank.
