The TDP government has finally convinced the reluctant riverside farmers into giving their land by reportedly offering them more 150 sq yards commercial plot for each acre they surrender for the construction of the new capital for AP.

With the deadline for expressing consent for the land pooling scheme all set to end on Saturday, the state which is falling short of 30,000 acres target for new capital by around 5,000 acres is now all set to go ahead with confidence.

The biggest hurdle involved convincing the 5,000-odd Krishna riverside farmers, who have been seeking higher compensation for their land since it is much more fertile than the upland areas.

The limit for loan waivers for farmers cultivating the horticulture crops is now enhanced from Rs 10,000 per each acre to Rs 1.5 lakh for an acre while mango, sapota, lemon and guava farmers would now get Rs 1 lakh per acre compared Rs 50,000 per acre. The breakthrough was finally achieved when the riverside farmers arrived in Hyderabad for a meeting with CM Naidu at the secretariat during Thursday morning.
