There is a lot more to the success of Singapore beyond its fancy reputation as a successful city-state such as its determination to succeed from ruins four decades ago and its discipline.
It is a known fact that AP CM Naidu was not given permission by Ministry of External Affairs to travel to Singapore as scheduled earlier on Mar 30-31. Since Modi was also attending the funeral of Singapore’s founding father on March 29, MEA requested that Naidu can attend the event along with Modi.
Expecting that Singapore will be busy in mourning and he cannot disturb officials there over the capital master plan, Naidu cancelled his trip and instead planned to be in Delhi for meeting with Central ministers.
Singapore reportedly communicated to Naidu whether he was coming to the country as scheduled and Naidu was stunned. Here everything would come to a standstill when a big leader passes away, but Singapore is particular that no work is hampered and has only given rotational two hour leave for employees to pay respects and come back to work. No official work has been stopped which shows the nation’s discipline.
