Why is BJP showing sudden love on AP?Till a month back BJP leaders said that there was no provision in AP state reorganisation act to provide special status to Andhra Pradesh. Prime Minister Modi led union government even argued that if special status is given to Andhra Pradesh,other states will oppose.
But suddenly AP BJP leaders are demanding special status to Andhra Pradesh and are inciting people to fight for the special status in unison. They are making trips to Delhi and meeting PM Modi and other top BJP leaders. Even in AP they are promising that BJP and Union Government will do justice to AP at any cost.
In the meanwhile Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu is trying to rope in celebrities and other party leaders into the BJP. Political analysts say all these are significant. They say Modi and BJP are of the opinion that the states which voted in favour of BJP in the 2014 general elections may not vote for it in 2019 elections.
BJP may lose some seats due to anti incumbency and so BJP is planning to strengthen and expand in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Though it is in full speed in Telangana due to coalition compulsion it is not doing so in Andhra Pradesh. BJP so to tackle it is following unique strategy. Instead of answering to the questions on why it didnot accord special status to AP, leaders are demanding implementation of the promises. BJP is keen to get the credit of special status to AP to itself rather than give it to TDP or CM Chandra Babu.
