The police higher-ups suspended sub-inspector of police of Bukkarayasamudram in Anantapur for attempting to rape a woman.He was suspended on Friday for molesting a 25-year-old woman .The SI, identified as SI Ragiri Ramaiah, was suspended after Anantapur Police received a complaint from the victim on Friday.
According to the police, SI lives in a rented house in Bukkarayasamudram. He eyed a housewife, who lived alone nearby. The victim’s husband was away in another place for a job and taking that advantage he tried to molest the woman.
Two days before he knocked the housewife’s door saying she got a phone call from her husband. When the woman opened the door he tried to molest her. She raised an alarm, due to which the neighbours woke up and caught the police with his pants down.
On the basis of her complaint, an FIR under Section 354, IPC, has been registered against the SI. DIG Balakrishna ordered an inquiry into the incident and based on the probe report, he suspended Ramaiah.A departmental inquiry had also been ordered in this regard.
