Two separate State Load Despatch Centers (SLDCs) will be in place for Andhra Pradesh soon. The AP State Load Despatch Centre at Vijayawada will be set up within four months. It will be located near “CRDA,” sources in the Energy Department said. The additional AP State Load Despatch Centre will be located in Tirupati. Orders were placed in the November 2014 for creating two SLDCs--one to take as dedicated SLDC at Vijayawada and another to be kept at Tirupati as a spare. 

SLDCs are required to monitor power flows


SLDCs are required to monitor power flows in the grid. Information from the two SLDCs will passed on to Southern Regional LDC, and from there to the national LDC, the sources said. As per the officials discussing, Andhra Pradesh will be the first state having two load dispatch centers. AP CM took decision to have two load dispatch centers to have alternate connectivity to state grid , if any power issues arises from Telangana which may result in black out. 

Telangana attempt to terminate the power dispatch


If Telangana attempt to terminate the power dispatch to Vijayawada, AP can connect the grid with Tirupati SLDC.AP Transco team applaud decision of AP CM to have two SLDC to counter the threat by Telangana .But many power industry professionals astonished by the decision of AP CM to have 2 SLDC for single state. This is like defensive system created by 1st state to counter strategy. But this shows lack of confidence on the other state actions.


The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to take steps to ensure that electricity is consumed where it is generated. As part of this decision, it urged the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) to cancel PPAs signed by the then united state with the electricity distribution companies.
