Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi is revered and loved by all. His assassination in a brutal manner shocked everyone and left them in tears. However no one could know the details of FIR registered against the muder and convict Nathuram Godse after the assassination of Gandhi on 30th Jan, 1948.
Many people tried to find out the details of FIR contacting RTI but till now nothing came out as various governments refused to divulge the information. Recently Hemanta Panda from Bolangir district, Odisha tried to seek FIR copy and charge sheet along with other information like post-mortem done as per law by making a seven point application to Union Home Ministry.

Ministry forwarded the application to the National Archives of India, director of Gandhi Smriti, but when he went there they mentioned that the information was not available with them.
However the Central Information Commission has directed the Union Home Ministry to make public all available information with them. It has to be seen whether information will be made public or another twist may come in this case.
