The Congress party is doing
everything it can, seen as desperate attempts at revitalizing the
age-old party in Andhra Pradesh, which was till recently a citadel of
Congress even with the presence of TDP. The death of YSR shook the
foundations of INC in Andhra Pradesh like never before.
Bifurcation was the last nail in the coffin for the party in AP which led to complete rout of the Congress party even as the party couldn’t make a comeback to power in Telangana state although t granted statehood. Today, Rahul Gandhi has started his one day paadayathra in AP.
Rahul said repeatedly that he shares his late grand mother
According to media reports, wherever he went, there was one common mention by Rahul, it is that of Indira Gandhi. Rahul said repeatedly that he shares his late grand mother’s love towards Andhra. Indira not only had a special affinity but also fought for United Andhra Pradesh in her 18 year long tenure.
Rahul clearly cannot say that his mother Sonia was committed to the welfare of AP because she is regarded as the curse for the state. It has to be seen whether his repeated involving of Indiramma can strike any chord with the people. If it works out, it helps but if it doesn’t, there would be no use for Congress.
