In what is being envisaged as a first of its kind, the Tata Trust is reportedly all set for bringing about grass-root level transformation of 264 villages in the Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency for influencing the lives of nearly 1 million people by means of proper planning and development centered for their needs.

Although the ground work for this massive project had started in the month of April itself, the programme is gearing up for a formal launch on August 24 in the august presence of Ratan Tata, chairman emeritus of Tata Sons and AP CM N Chandrababu Naidu , among others.

The initiative includes building self-sustainable and self-driven villages with a prime focus on the well-being as well as happiness of the poor, according to Vijayawada Lok Sabha member Kesineni Nani, who worked hard for getting this project to the people of his constituency and also collaborated with Tata Trusts for designing and implementation of the programme.

The entrepreneur-cum-politician had earlier approached Ratan Tata requesting his collaboration to develop new model villages in the Vijayawada constituency as part of the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana(SAGY) initiative flagged off by PM Narendra Modi last year. Tata also included Vijayawada city and other urban areas in this massive project.
