With Telangana Rashtra Samithi government still in dilly-dallying mood over payment of ex gratia to farmer families who had committed suicide, the Congress Deputy leader in Telangana Assembly Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has reportedly come forward for extending financial assistance to all such families, albeit in his own small way. He was once considered a protégé of YSR.

Komatiredy had announced on Monday a financial assistance to the tune of Rs 50,000 each to the kin of the deceased farmers across all the districts in Telangana State on behalf of the Komatireddy Prathik Reddy Foundation. His son passed away in an accident few years ago near ORR in Hyderabad.

Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, another Congress leader in Telangana Council, had started the process of financial assistance to farmers while TDP leaders also gathered funds last year offering assistance to those families who lost their farmer earners last year.

There is a pressure on State Government to bring about a new Agriculture Policy for rescuing the farming community that has been badly hit by debts. Many feel that such acts by others is putting TRS leaders to shame and that the party may take a strong hit unless KCR gets into act and announces quick relief measures.
