Hundreds of Left parties activists and other mass organisations across Telangana were reportedly arrested this Wednesday for halting their march towards the state assembly while protesting the killing of two Maoists by police recently.

Sources say that workers of various organisations were detained at different districts while preventing them from heading towards Hyderabad for this March which was called by Telangana Democratic Front (TDF). Eminent academician Chuka Ramaiah was also placed under house arrest in the city of Hyderabad.

The assembly building was also virtually turned into a fortress with the police imposing restrictions on all roads heading for assembly. There was also tension prevailing at Osmania University with students planning to march against the prohibitory orders that were imposed by police. Policemen in riot gear were deployed at the gates to prevent students from coming out.

T. Veerabhadram had termed these arrests

Communist Party of India-Marxist Telangana state secretary T. Veerabhadram had termed these arrests as undemocratic while Telangana CM ordered this crackdown with reports that Maoists may gain entry into Hyderabad and stage any surprise attacks!
