Three local Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders are reportedly being held captive by Maoists in Visakhapatnam, district. The abducted  have been identified as TDP’s Mandal president Mamidi Balayya of Kothagudem village as well as senior leaders Vandalam Balayya from Kothuru village and Mukkala Mahesh from GK Veedhi.

 

There are reports that Naxals through their network had reportedly requested these three TDP leaders to come for a meeting at Dharkonda in Visakhapatnam, district on Monday during afternoon and accordingly these leaders went.

 

The leaders reportedly went on the assurance by the Naxals that they won't be harmed, but now they are reportedly being held captive. Maoists are expected to take them into deep interior forest areas towards the border involving East Godavari district.

 

The Naxals are reportedly holding them hostage to protest against the revival of mining of bauxite in the area. Naidu had a tough time with them when he was CM of united AP, including an assassination attempt and during his current tenure, this can be a first significant challenges.
