Recently the suicide of Rohith Vemula in Hyderabad caused a huge uproar in whole of India. The suicide opened new doors for various debates. But this is not just about Rohith. It is about the caste system. So how did this emerged ? Brahminical canon says the fourfold varna system is as old as creation.

The Rig Veda (10:90) says that the gods created it by sacrificing the primal Purusha. His mouth became the Brahmin, his arms, Kshatriyas, his thighs, Vaishyas, and his feet became Shudras. Dr.Bhimarao Ambedkar who was a dalit pointed out all those fatal laws and he said these are completely irrelevant.

But there has been more contradiction to these creation tales. But these days everyone have their own explanation for the caste system. At the same time, British Rule also brought a huge change.

The caste boundaries were put on people during the rile of British.  Before the caste system came into play there was a free flow of blending among people. But once this was enforced, there were large separations amongst people.
