Pournami is an auspicious day for Hindus. The pournami vrathams during the months of Adi, Karthigai, Vaigasi and Maasi are supposed to be special and the ideal time to wake up, take bath and offer prayers according to Hinduism is during Brahma Muhurtham(4:00-6:00 a.m). Several other pooja’s are also done along with Pournami vratham. Satyanarayana or Satya Narayana Pooja is another important Pooja performed on the Purnima day. 

 


The Pournami Fasting begins at Sunrise and ends after sighting the Moon. Most people only take food after seeing the moon or after evening prayers and we can have fruits, water and milk during the Upvas. The first thing is you have to take bath early in the morning, offer prayers, have fast of food but you can take fruits, water, milk and break your fast after sighting the moon and good to follow the tradition which is our own and passing to the future generation.

Vishnu, by many sects in Hindus, is considered to be the supreme god. In a normal and general perspective, he is one of the Trimurti, along with Brahma and Shiva. He is seen as the Preserver of the universe. According to the scriptures, mostly Vishnu Purana, the universe came into being from his navel, and the first living being born was Brahma.


                   

Shiva, as mentioned above, is one of the three primary gods in Hinduism. He is considered to be the Supreme Being by one of the Hindu sects. He is seen as the Destroyer (or transformer) of the universe. He is one of the most recognizable Hindu deities, and is very popular among all Hindus. In Vedic philosophy, Brahma is the embodiment of intellect, and is present as intellect in all human beings. He is all knowledgeable, and is the creator of all beings in the universe.
