Former Indian Captain Anil Kumble has been appointed as Indian team Head coach for a year. His first task will be against West Indies. India will face West Indies in four-test series. However bowling, batting and assistant coaches were not selected.

President Anurag Thakur said, "The appointment of bowling, batting and assistant coaches." Earlier Kumble was one among the 57 candidates who applied for the position of head coach. He was then shortlisted in 21 names and he met the cricket advisory committee - consisting of former India players Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman and Sachin Tendulkar.

Anil Kumble has become the first Indian to be appointed full-time India coach since Kapil Dev resigned in September 2000. Thakur said, "It is not about Indian or Foreign. We just need some one best for Indian Cricket.

India deserves the best and we think we have that in Kumble." His application came as a surprise as he never had experience in that area. So far his highest position has been mentor in IPL with Royal Challengers Bangalore first and then Mumbai Indians.
