Angelo Mathews has walked out of Australia ODI series after he suffered from calf tear. Apart from him, allrounder Thisara Perera and left-arm wrist spinner Lakshan Sandakan have been released from the Sri Lanka squad for the fifth ODI.
Mathews has not undergone CT scan for this injury. But Team management revealed he won't be available. Mathews had hobbled off the field during his innings on Wednesday and, though he returned to bat towards the end of the innings, had been substantially hampered by the injury.
As Dilshan is retiring, selectors are looking for Tharanga to bat him at the top of the order. Dickwella is also an option for the opening slot. Dickwella struck 51, 44 and 60 in his last 3 innings. Sri Lanka have already lost the ODI series. The final match is set to be played in Pallekele, on Sunday.
