India smashed England in the first one day here at Pune with a captaincy knock coming from Virat Kohli (122 )and a stunning century from the local boy Kedar Jadhav (120). The show put up by these two young guns was a visual treat to the cricket fans in the stadium.
Chasing a huge score of 351 runs, India lost early wickets. Both the openers K.L Rahul and Shikar Dhawan failed to deliver. Kohil coming as one down bats man took the momentum as soon as he made into the crease. This match would be remembered by Kohli for the rest of his life as this was the first one day after he taking the full charges as team India captain and that to have scored a century. Yuvaraj Singh though started his innings with a huge six could not maintain his calm just falling for 15 runs. Team India's former captain Dhoni made his way while the crowd cheered. But his innings ended in disappointment. He managed to score only 6 runs.
After Dhoni's wicket the scenario changed. The local boy Kedar Jadav stepped in to support the run Machine Kohli. Kedar Jadav at no point felt the pressure as he swung the bat freely. The English bowlers were frustrated to bowl to Jadav. His destruction began with the first ball itself. Kohli went on to score his century with a huge six in style while Jadhav follwed Virat to make his century with a four. They both together put a huge partnership of more than 150 runs which put India in a commanding position. When the mometum seemed to look good Virat fell for a lose shot to Stokes. After that Kedar Jadhav who faced 76 balls to score his 120 runs was caught by Stokes in the bowling of Jake Ball. After that Hardhik Pandya (40) with few huge blows finished the formalities.
Earlier, winning the toss India put the England team into bat. opener Jason Roy scored 73 runs off 61 balls. Joe Root also looked good with 78 runs. Ben Stokes 62 of just 40 balls helped the visitors put a total score of 350 on the score board loosing 7 wickets. Pandya and Bumrah took 2 wickets each while Jadeja and Umesh Yadav took a wicket each. Kedar Jadhav was named the Man-of-the-Match.
