20 straight wins on the home ground. None would have imagined that the mighty team India would bow before Australia. But that’s what has happened in the first test match at Pune. The Australians took the match in to their hands with their all round performance on the field thus recording a grand victory with a huge margin of 333 runs. India could manage to score only 107 runs.
Team Indian batsmen failed to comeback after the debacle knock played in the first innings. There was no batsman who could really stand out there in the field and face the Aussie bowling. The highest individual score came from Rahane who scored 18 runs.
The team India batsmen were massacred by the Aussie spinner O’keefe. Keefe who looked good in the first innings with 6 wickets has once again performed the magic in the second innings by taking another 6 wickets. Overall O’keefe gave away 70 runs and took 12 wickets.
Earlier Captain Steve Smith scored a century that helped Australia to set a huge score of 441 runs. Though there was 2days of time left, the Indian batsman could not make use of it. Virat Kohli thus faced a first loss after he taking over as the test captain. Man of the Match was awarded to O’keefe for his brilliant figures 12/70.
