Sources have made a statement that in less than a month after Anil Kumble stepped down as the Indian cricket team coach, former Team Director Ravi Shastri has been officially appointed the new head coach. Meanwhile the BCCI's Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), comprising former players Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman, interviewed five candidates former Indian cricketers like Ravi Shastri, Virender Sehwag and Lalchand Rajput, Australian cricketer Tom Moody and Englishman Richard Pybus before finalizing Shastri to fill the vacant position of Team India's head coach.

Sources have stated that the decision has been taken only after consulting with skipper Virat Kohli, who allegedly caused former coach Kumble to step down. Currently Shastri has reportedly signed a two year contract, and thus he will remain the coach when India plays the 2019 ICC World Cup.
