People may be happy that summer is over and monsoons will cool the temperatures. Country is witnessing rainfall here and there and floods at some places. But it is not to be if scientists are to be believed. Scientists predict that 2016 will be the hottest year and already they concluded that June was the hottest month.
According to scientists at NASA and America’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the first six months of 2016 were the hottest across the world. This has been a routine every year but this time it is more worrying. Gavin Schmidt head of NASA’s Goddard Space Institute says last year still holds the hottest year record but 2016 will surely defeat it.
Schmidt predicts that according to calculations 99% chances are that 2016 will be the hottest year. Dr Schmidt attributed some of the rise in temperatures to the El Niño weather pattern in which warmer water in the equatorial Pacific Ocean push heat into the atmosphere.
But scientists say it has been a long term trend that the world climate has been becoming warm in the recent years.
