Aide et Action International (AEAI), an international NGO with headquarters in Geneva (Switzerland), which is dedicated to education as an essential mean to advance the cause of development across the world, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Eric Ouannes as its International Director General (IDG). Eric will assume his duties from Monday, 15th August 2016.


 

Eric, who has close to 20 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, has an impressive track record in operational leadership, strategy development, financial and relationship management. After starting his career with Action Contre la Faim (ACF), he joined Médecins sans Frontières (MSF) as their General Director for MSF Japan and President of the Board of MSF Korea, where his 15 years track record included the impressive growth of MSF’s influence and impact in Asia.


He then joined briefly Geneva Call, a Swiss Foundation as their head of operation, before taking the helm at AEAI. “Eric Ouannes will be able to navigate the Association in a rapidly changing political, financial and educational context with a strategic stakeholder engagement plan and optimal use of resources and skills available within AEAI,” said Ms.Yasmin Abdeen, President of the International Board. 


AEAI’s mission is to change the world through education. To do so, it aims to create access to quality education for children, women and marginalized populations. “To this end, Eric’s global management experience, fundraising and marketing expertise together with his familiarity with government liaison will be a key driving force and asset for implementing AEAI’s mission,” added Mr.Yves Tapiero, Treasurer of the International Board. Currently AEAI has 82 educational projects in 25 countries across the globe that directly impacts life of  1.6 Million people.


The network reached to 43,600 sponsors and donors globally and raised 23.7 million Euros in 2015, of which 81% was allocated to the social mission. When asked about his thoughts on being part of AEAI, Eric Ouannes said, “I am very excited and humbled to join Aide et Action International. Being part of such an organization is an honor and I will dedicate my skills and experience to continuing the development of educational projects towards the most in need.”
