• CEAMA celebrating 36 glorious years of the Indian electronics and appliances industry

​Commending the Indian electronics and appliances industry’s glorious journey over the past three decades, Consumer Electronics and Appliances Manufacturers Association (CEAMA) is celebrating its 36th Annual Function marking the successful contribution of the industry towards modernizing India. With the theme of “Transforming India Towards Green and Smart Technology”, the occasion was also graced upon by Shri J. S Deepak – Secretary of Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), Dr. Sandeep Garg – Chief Technical Specialist of Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), and Mr. Manish Sharma – President of CEAMA and Managing Director of Panasonic India & South Asia, along with industry stalwarts to envision the future of the industry and maximize its contribution to the growth of the Indian economy.


On the occasion, the individuals are felicitated for their outstanding contribution to the Indian electronics and appliances industry through the years. Mr. Kamal Nandi – Business Head & Executive Vice President of Godrej Appliances with the ‘Man of Appliances Award’ and Mr. Sunil Vachani – Chairman and Managing Director of Dixon Technologies with the ‘Man of Electronics Award’. The event was also marked by indepth insights and views of the guests highlighting the role of CEAMA members in transforming the current energy efficiency market and creating awareness amongst consumers to drive increased uptake of the energy efficient and greener products. While highlighting the growth opportunities and associated policy interventions, the industry is adopting latest and emerging standards for compliance by various regulatory bodies globally, for the continued growth of the industry.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. J. S Deepak, Secretary, DeitY said, “It is truly a momentous occasion for the industry and CEAMA and I am pleased to be here with Industry patrons to celebrate its successful journey spanning over three decades. Our Hon’ble Prime Minister has been stressing on ‘Make in India’ and the need to push the domestic electronics manufacturing. The Electronics Policy notified by the government is a testimony of its commitment to the growth and development of electronics hardware in the country to promote large-scale manufacturing, offset disability and attract domestic and global investments into the Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) sector in India. We are with the industry in its journey to the next level and will work towards creating a conducive ecosystem for the industry to flourish and grow.”


Also sharing his views, Mr. Manish Sharma - President of CEAMA & Managing Director of Panasonic India & South Asia, said “Industry is continuously working towards creating smart and efficient lives for our consumers. However, with the increasing demand and related short supply of electricity, the industry now has an additional responsibility of creating green and energy efficient products and solutions which will help transform India into a smarter nation.


CEAMA has been at the forefront of this transformation by collaborating and liaisoning with various stakeholders and bringing forth the priorities of the nation, supported by the industry. We have actively supported the energy efficiency movement by making necessary investments in upgrading technologies as well as exploring alternative renewable sources of energy. The Indian electronics and appliances industry has always been the pioneer in modernizing India and will lead the initiative of a crafting a smarter nation.”
