Just ahead of their launch, Porsch India has opened bookings of the 718 Cayman coupe and the 718 Boxster convertible in India. The coupe and the convertible are priced at Rs. 80.13 lakh and Rs. 83.95 lakh respectively.

In their previous generation, coupes have been priced higher than the convertibles but in the current generation awaiting their respective launches, the convertible has been priced higher than the coupe. Porsche offers two variants of the 718 Cayman and 718 Boxster with the 718 Cayman S and the 718 Boxster S.

The S trims are higher powered than the standard trims with a 2.5-liter engine that develops 350 hp and 420 Nm of torque, mated to either a manual transmission or an optional PDK gearbox with both automatic and manual options. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is within 4.6 seconds in the manual trim and 4.4 seconds in the automatic trim and reaches a top speed of 285 km/h.

The engines have been downsized from their earlier 3.4-liter, 6-cylinder engine to a 2.5-liter engine in the S trim and a 2.0-liter engine in the standard trim for better fuel efficiency. The 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder, turbocharged engine, mated to a manual or 7-speed manual or automatic gearbox, powers up to 300 hp and 380 Nm of torque. It clocks a top speed of 275 km/h, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 and 5.1 seconds, between the automatic and manual variants respectively.

The new generation 718 Cayman and 718 Boxster will also see a rise in their standard equipment, with added safety as the driver and passenger front airbags, Porsche Side Impact Protection System (POSIP), Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS), four-spot LED daytime running lights, cornering lights (useful for snake and hairpin bends), bi-xenon headlamps, etc. Plenty of comfort features are also included into the standard mix with climate control, plush sports seats, Porsche Entry & Drive (encryption based lock/unlock) system, sports steering, etc. Porsche Car Connect App, Apple Car Play, 6-speaker BOSE sound system, GPS Navigation, Wi-Fi connectivity, etc. will keep you engaged with the infotainment functions and features.

The launch of the 718 Cayman and 718 Boxster is part of Porsche India’s five model launch plan. Both the coupe and the convertible, brought to India via the usual CBU (Completely Built-Up Unit) route, may be launched by next month, while deliveries will be fulfilled by November.
