IIT delhi alongside IIT madras has announced the suspension of all physical face-to-face classes for the forthcoming semester in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic. The institutes will be conducting all their programmes through online mode till december this year. Confirming the same, Ramgopal Rao, director, IIT delhi said, "We do not have a choice this year. We will follow the sub-committee's report, which recommends online mode to conduct classes for the upcoming semester.

 

The announcement comes close on the heels of IIT bombay, suspending all its physical classes for the entire upcoming semester, and conduct them through online mode owing to the coronavirus pandemic. The institute mentioned that as face-to-face lectures would endanger the lives of students, it will be conducting classes through online mediums only.

 

Recently, IIT Kharagpur had asked its students to vacate the campus hostel by june 20 and come back only in September. B N Singh, IIT Kharagpur Registrar said, "They are our children. If they have some difficulty in shifting immediately, we cannot force them. But since the next semester is more than two months away, there will be little academic activity for them."
