But due its features many a times an untrained eye can’t differentiate between real authentic silver and fake one, here are few tricks and tips to follow while buying real and pure silver.
While buying silver check for the labels on the items, if the label reads ‘ster' or ‘sterling' it means the silver almost pure with 92%, items of silver with IS mark means international silver, if someone is buying silver in coin form then test it with ringing, if the sound nice and clear then its real, if its sound dull, then it could be fake.
There is also Magnet method, tilt silver item on 45 degrees and place magnet if the magnet is going down slowly then its real, but, if it sticks to the item its fake. Ice cubes method, place ice on silver item, and another on any pan, compare the melting time, the silver cube placed on silver should melt faster if its real than the cube placed on other pan. Silver is heat conductor metal. Using Fisch method, place silver in device slot, if coin tilts then its fake, steady coin is real silver.
Beside this, there is also few chemical testing methods to identify real silver. Pour few drops of Nitric Acid on silver, if the silver turns in creamy white then its pure, if it turns green in colour its fake, after applying bleach if its get tarnished quickly it means its real, if not its fake.
