Controversies involving censor board is shocking everyone. While some come in support of CBFC chairperson Pahlaj Nihalani for being strict on the filmmakers and ensuring cuts in vulgar scenes and over exposing, others blast Pahalaj Nihalani on how he can decide on what others should watch.
They also point out to the double standards of censor board chief Pahlaj Nihalani as he made many C grade films , but now he started censoring anything and everything as to Bond kissing hot beauties, smoking scenes, use of cuss words and also exposures of heroines bras.
The cuts he made for James Bond's latest film Spectrum left everyone shellshocked. Censor Board headed by Pahlaj Nihalani cut many kissing and romantic scenes disappointing movie lovers. Right after that the Udta Punjab controversy involving him and AAP party cannot be forgotten. 94 cuts were suggested by the censor board and it created huge controversy with the filmmakers approaching Supreme Court.
Supreme Court blasted Censor Board for infringing into freedom of speech and expression which forced censor board to pass the film with 13 cuts. Seems Censor Board doesn't want to learn its lessons. It again courted controversy when it cut bra shot and Savitha Bhabhi from Katrina Kaif, Sidharth Malhotra film Baar Baar Dekho.
Filmmakers of Baar Baar Dekho blasted the Censor Board angrily questioning “Are we living in the Victorian era when women’s innerwear was never spoken of in public? Years ago in 1995 there was a bra shot featuring Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan. And Baar Baar Dekho is directed by a woman. So the chances of lingerie being used to titillate the audience are nil,”
Filmmakers are questioning" Does the CBFC answer logical questions as well? Can we be provided with a list of these Indian morals that need to be upheld which do not acknowledge a piece of garment that is used by women for support?
Many feel Censor Board is getting its priorities wrong failing to understand the difference between Censorship and Certification. Baar Baar Dekho was passed by U/A certificate by the centor board.
