King Akkineni Nagarjuna is back after a brief break after his last release, the Raghavendra Rao mythological flick Om Namo Venkatesaya. Though that versatile Actor was in the form of his life post Manam, with Soggade Chinni Nayana and  Oopiri, he faced a minor setback with Om Namo Venkatesaya. With Raju Gari Gadhi 2, releasing as a namesake sequel to the 2015 horror hit, and with the presence of his real-life Kodalu Samantha, let's see if Nag has a winner with this Omkar's horror entertainer.

The film begins with 3 youngsters(Vennela Kishore, Praveen, and Ashwin Babu), who are friends from college days, deciding to lead a life by investing in a resort business. As they start the business, everything goes smoothly until they begin to witness paranormal activities in the resort, making lives tougher. As they seek the help of a church priest (Naresh), he leads them to Rudra (Nagarjuna), a mentalist, who identifies that the happenings are due to a spirit seeking revenge for its death. As Rudra explores further, how he unveils the mystery behind the death of the spirit of Amrutha (Samantha) and helps the spirit complete its revenge besides saving the resort owners is what Raju Gari Gadhi 2 is all about.

For a versatile performer like Nagarjuna, Rudra's role is a cakewalk, and he performs with extreme ease. His cool and composed demeanor makes the character lovable despite the fact that Rudra comes only after the other characters are introduced. Vennela Kishore and Shakalakala Shankar along with Praveen try to tickle the funny bones but fail to make the necessary impact, with their bland comedy with uninteresting, boring humor tracks and dialogues. Samantha comes as a surprise package, and in the limited scope she gets, she makes the audience emotional and scary in equal doses.  She begins as a bubbly, full of life young girl, and ends as an angry spirit waiting for revenge, and has conveyed both the thirst for revenge and the cuteness perfectly with ample variation. Seerat Kapoor, is totally deployed for glamour, and sizzles in a bikini in a sequence, and does nothing more. Rao Ramesh is adequate with his emotional act.

While Diwakaran's Cinematography captures the stunning resort in all its glory, the VFX is substandard and mars the impact of the so-called horror sequences. Thaman's loud background score almost overshadows the scare in the sequences, and it fails to create the necessary fright impact. Director Omkar, who surprised Tollywood by emerging successful with his flick Raju Gari Gadhi, after the disastrous Genius, has this time safely opted for a remake, bearing the name of the 2015 horror flick. Raju Gari Gadhi 2, is inspired from the 2016 Malayalam flick Pretham and has been adapted in an amateurish manner.

Despite having a star hero like Nagarjuna and a value addition like Samantha,  Omkar hasn't cared to modify or make the screenplay interesting.  While the screenplay itself begins on a dull note with predictable horror scenes and humorous scenes that actually don't evoke humor,  Omkar also has placed a very beaten to death flashback track as the reason for the spirit's revenge, making the whole experience uninteresting and monotonous. In addition to the failure of the comedy track, the poor VFX also mars the impact of the horror shots, making Raju Gari Gadhi 2, a visual experience tires.

All said, with such a promising cast and an interesting premise of paranormal activities in a resort, Omkar could have presented an even better screenplay and a fresh flashback and must have also avoided several drags that make this so-called horror flick settle in the average league. There is no connection with the title 'Raju Gari Gadhi' as they used it just as a brand name. The first half is a routine horror comedy while the second half is filled with emotional drama. Also, the second half don't have any scary moments or VFX. Seerat Kapoor is just a glam doll. The biggest plus is the crisp running time. The movie is definitely in above average league and with no competition around, it can even be a 'Hit' material.
