The maverick maker Puri Jagannath, who has been struggling hard to deliver a genuine hit ever since the days of Temper. and has been delivering back to back disasters like Loafer, Rogue, Jyothilakshmi and the latest entrant to the club being last year's Paisa Vasool, is back to silverscreens, this time with a launchpad for his son as hero,in Mehbooba. Here's team AP Herald's exclusive FDFS Mehbooba review.

Roshan (Akash Puri) and Afreen (Neha Shetty) are college students, who get a liking for each other, after several incidents and the twist of events leading to Akash saving Neha Shetty from troubles. As the couple come close to each other with every incident, Roshan realises that they have some past connect. It is later shown that the couple had been separated in their previous birth and that they have reincarnated now. Will Roshan get Afreen atleast this time is what Mehbooba is all about.

Akash Puri as Roshan is energetic and delivers a fine performance like how he had been delivering as a child artist. He excels in all the sequences be it the emotional ones or the war sequences.

Neha Shetty who has made her debut, expresses well though she could have improved her lip sync. Her acting skills are quite decent. The rest of the cast including Murali Sharma are adquate.

Music by Sandeep Chowta is good, with the Pichi Pichiga and Mehbooba title song are hum worthy. Vishnu Sarma's cinematography captures the locales of Hyderabad and the hilly terrains, as well the war sequences effectively, Junaid's editing could have been taut, as the sequences are incoherent at places.

Puri Jagannath returns to direction after the disastrous Paisa Vasool last year, with Mehbooba, This time, it's the launchpad of his son, and it was expected that he could have come up with an interesting tale and a good screenplay to launch him.

However, Puri has yet again failed to impress, as he has come up with a half baked screenplay, that falls neither between a reincarnation drama nor a war saga. While the first half moves on a brisk pace, the second half , while trying to open the conflict point and the unraveling of the past births of the lead pair, fails big time. and the weakest link of Mehbooba is that the audience fail to connect to the characters emotionally.

Technically too, the movie could have been much better, as the music and editing could have been better. All said, Mehbooba is yet again a failed attempt from Puri Jagannath.

Aakash Puri, Neha Shetty,Puri Jagannadh,Puri Connects,Sandeep Chowta Puri fails yet again, failing Akash as well this time!
