Set in a night at the backdrop of a prison, Kaithi is about a planned jailbreak and prisoner Dilli (Karthi) forced to team up with an injured cop Bejoy (Narain)and together they have to overcome the deadly evils like Arjun Das and Ramana who are planning a drug transport. Was Dilli successful in his attempt and was he able to meet his daughter after 10 years is what Kaithi is all about.
Karthi is back in Paruthi veeran mode and is in full form as the rustic, mass Dilli and he's perfectly cast the prisoner turned savior who is massy as the action hero. Narain as the cop exhibits perfect body language and is apt. Arjun Das is menacing, while the rest of the cast including Kanna, Vatsan, George are adequate.
Director Lokesh Kanagaraj has yet again taken up an interesting theme and uses Karthi's potential as an action hero to the fullest. The screenplay is gripping and gets into tense mode right from the word go, and the situations are built well such that there are no lags. The well-choreographed stunts and cinematography guarantee goosebumps, and kudos to Karthi for opting for a movie without songs and heroine and achieving success with superb performance, great supporting acts, stunning action, and perfect screenplay.
