Helmed by Maanagaram fame lokesh kanagaraj, Kaithi will feature karthi as a prisoner and presents events happening around a jailbreak in a single night and the team shot the movie in 62 nights. Kaithi also featured actors like Vatsan, Dheena, narain and has music by sam CS. The movie which released as a diwali treat was a huge success. Kaithi was bankrolled by Dream Warrior Pictures.
Now, karthi is having his next release in the form of 'Thambi' featuring jyothika as his sister and sathyaraj as his father. The movie is helmed by jeethu joseph who helmed 'Drishyam' earlier. But, the movie is running low on buzz and there is no hype around the movie. Nikhila vimal pairs with karthi for the first time in her career. Despite the huge success of 'Kaithi', there is no hype around the movie and the makers are still confident that the good word of mouth might do wonders after the release.
