Story:

After his long-delayed gautham Vasudev menon directorial Enai Nokki Paayum Thotta, dhanush is back on screen with his Kodi director Durai Senthil Kumar's mass entertainer Pattas playing dual roles again.  Here's team ap Herald's exclusive first on net Pattas review.

Pattas is a carefree youngster leading a crazy lifestyle and goes around mehreen, and his life turns after the entry of sneha who happens to be his mother. Pattas realizes his father dhanush was an exponent of Adimurai martial art and the evil naveen chandra lead to his death by betrayal. How Pattas exacted revenge on naveen chandra for destroying his family is what Pattas is all about.

Performances:

dhanush excels in both the contrasting roles delivering impressive performances, as the energetic son and the calm and composed son, and he gets ample support from sneha who gives a mature performance as the mother vying for revenge. mehreen is cast in an insignificant role and naveena Chandra performs his role in a cliched fashion. The rest of the cast is adequate.

Technicalities:

Background score by Vivek - Mervin is loud and jarring and of their songs only Mavane and Chill bro work. Cinematography by Om Prakash captures action sequences very well and Prakash's taut editing ensures the movie is tight and engaging.

Analysis:

director Durai Senthil Kumar is back after his political entertainer Kodi with another dual role entertainer with dhanush and yet again he has stuck to his cliched treatment. Pattas begins on a fun note and from the arrival of sneha gains some momentum, but the second half proceeds with cliched sequences, and with a good performance by dhanush and some mass moments, Pattas ends as a passable entertainer that will end as a festive success with decent collections.

Verdict: dhanush powers this cliched entertainer.
