Earlier on march 8, singer chinmayi Sripaada took to her instagram to share a screengrab that speaks about Oscar-award winning producer harvey weinstein, who was accused of multiple sexual assaults. He was pronounced guilty by the judges two years after multiple women accused him of sexual assault.

 

She expressed her agony over the pending justice for women post the metoo movement. She pointed out how celebrities namely, Vairamuthu, karthik and anu malik, were allegedly involved in sexual misconduct without facing any repercussions. She wrote, It could take 13 women so far against Vairamuthu...Scores of people banned by Mr Radha Ravi....Multiple girls naming Mr anu malik, kailash kher or singer karthik or raghu Dixit but hey.

 

She also said how women in india are being trained not to complain and retaliate, women are trained to not retaliate, to not complain, to not question. And to some of us that raise our heads after being tired of normalising the abuse even if women themselves shame us Why now / why so late etc. chinmayi is the only celebrity down south who is still fighting for justice for the women. The metoo movement came to india in 2017 when law student Raya Sarkar compiled a list of alleged sexual harassers in the indian academia. In fact, in november 2018, the singer was expelled from the dubbing union headed by Radha Ravi.
