Accordingly T Rajendar president of the chennai Thiruvallur Kancheepuram Distributors’ Association, has demanded that the TDS levied on Distributors income should be cancelled. He said that if their demand is not met, then the distributors will not facilitate the releases of new tamil films from march 27. Rajendar added that the additional tax will be a huge burden on the distributors, who are already going through a tough phase in the industry.

In a press meet, he said, "We are expected to pay 10% TDS for turnover, based on the theatrical run of a film, which might not always mean that the film has given us any profit. This is extremely unfair." He further added that distributors act as a bridge between producers and theatre owners and that their demands should be met so that the industry can function without any hiccup.

Rajendar said, "Additionally, we are also appealing against the local body tax that is being levied in Tamilnadu. We are not against the government but merely asking them to consider our concerns." His decision has raised a lot of eyebrows in the industry. april will see the release of Vijay's upcoming film, Master. Theatres in tamilnadu are going through a dry phase as there were no big releases after Pongal. The theatre owners are relying heavily on master and other big summer releases.
