Earlier on september 15, 2019, director vignesh shivan announced that he will be producing a film titled Netrikann, featuring his girlfriend and actress Nayanthara in the lead role. Now, actor Ajmal Ameer, who was last seen in Prabhudheva's Devi 2, has confirmed to a leading daily that he is also a part of the film. He said, "Netrikann revolves around two pivotal characters. While Nayanthara plays one of the roles, I play the other. It's a film with a lot of twists and turns. With a very strong technical team, we're certain that the film will come out very well."
Directed by Milind Rau of Aval fame, the film is said to be the remake of hit Korean film, Blind, which released in 2011. The story is about a blind woman, who gives testimony in a hit-and-run case and is then forced to confront the killer on her own.
The film also features a dog in an important role. Netrikann went on floors in september 2019. Major portions of the film were shot in the outskirts of chennai along with the entire cast and crew. Meanwhile, Nayanthara is also working on Vignesh Shivan's fourth directorial venture, Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal, which is likely to go on floors post coronavirus crisis. She is also shooting for Rajinikanth's Annaatthe, directed by Siruthai Siva.
