Tollywood might be one of the biggest industries in the country, churning out some of the highest grossing flicks, but it is hard to ignore the fact that a lot of Telugu actresses have been involved in flesh trade in the past.The recent joinee is actress Swetha Basu Prasad who came to light with kotta Bangaru Lokam film. Its known that Shweta along with the pimp Balu has been arrested. She was caught red handed in a star hotel at Banjara Hills in Hyderabad on Sunday, Aug 31. According to sources, all arrested people were very well-known businessmen from Mumbai and other metro cities of the country. Swetha has broken the silence to shut the wagging tongues by admitting on being into flesh trade. She also explained the helpless position forcibly pulled into the situation. Shweta in her statement to the cops said, “I have made wrong choices in my career, and I was out of money. I had to support my family and some other good causes. All the doors were closed, and some people encouraged me to get into prostitution to earn money. I was helpless, and with no option left to choose, I got involved in this act. I’m not the only one who faced this problem, and there are several other heroines who have gone through this phase.” Balu acted as her agent to collect the money and it is reported that he used collect Rs.1 lakh each from high flying customers.Shweta Basu Prasad started her career as a child actress in Hindi films and television series and went on to play lead roles in Bengali,Telugu and Tamil cinema. For her performance in the 2002 film Makdee, she won the national award for best child artist. Sweta underwent a medical examination at a government hospital before she was sent to the rescue home, where women rescued by police and those facing trial are given shelter during the trial period.The inmates are provided with free food, clothing, medical care and also vocational training. She is likely to stay in the rescue home for three months.
