Chandran (Karunakaran) is a struggling film maker who is still waiting for his debut chance. He finally gets that chance with help of a producer named Jayaraman (MS Bhaskar). He is willing to produce the movie with help of his friend Pandian (Mayilsaamy). But chandran's chance comes at a huge cost. He is forced to cast Jayaraman's daughter Mahalakshmi (Nandita) as female lead and she is completely zero in acting. How Chandran made the movie without making compromises forms the rest of the story.
It is a comedy entertainer and it has interesting characters in the film. Radha Mohan already said Karunakaran and Nandita Swetha will be doing the lead roles. As he said, the lead roles were done by them. Both of them did top-notch performances. Nandita is gorgeous and she is at her best. Radha Mohan who makes female centric movies has opted Nandita Swetha without second thoughts. MS Bhaskar is flawless. He is efficicent as a character artist. Mayilsaamy is also clean. He has done justice to his role. Above all, the person who scores is Karunakaran. He emotes well and shows the emotions of a debut director. He shows the struggles which will be undergone by a new director. Rest of the cast are also good.
Steeve Vatz has made his debut as composer and two songs were good. Lyrics were written by Madhan Karky, Jerry Spilz, Radhamohan and Steeve Vatz. The song 'UK UK' will still ring in lots of ears. Gautam Menon has also wrote lyrics for one of the song. Watch it out. Mahesh Muthusami's cinematography is decent. The frames are clean and the cinematographer has kept it simple. TS Jay's editing is okayish. But it has to be more ciriper. Ramjee Narasiman's production values are below par. The movie at times gives dramatic feel.
The plot is similar to 'Jigarthanda' and it is feeble. Radha Mohan has tried to bring his best with witty one liner and a humour filled screenplay. However the length of the film might irritate few. The supporting cast gives a melo dramatic feel. Editor TS Jay should have chopepd the movie a lot. Senthil as Stephen Raj is a good debutante. He gives a dominant performance. The climax twist is also the usual one.
