'Airlift' featured Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur in lead roles. Raja Krishna Menon shaped the project. This is one of the most expected movies in 2016. The movie is based on biggest evacuation of Indians based in Kuwait during Iraq - Kuwait war. The movie is about story of Ranjith Katyal (Akshay Kumar). He is a powerful business tycoon who makes his living in Kuwait. He is married to Amrita Katyal (Nimrat Kaur). He always thinks himself as a 'Kuwaiti' more than an Indian. His life was lavish and luxurious until Iraq invades Kuwait. The whole scenario changes for hi, as he finds out no one has command over Iraqi soldiers. One of the Iraqi major offers an escape route for Ranjit and his spouse. But he declines saying that he cannot leave his fellow Indians at stake. And he transforms into a Kind hearted leader. He contacts Indian embassy and seeks help. Along with other Indians, he faces lots of odds and he travel thousands of Kilometers to cross Jordan border. What happens next is a thrilling tale of emotions and events.

Akshay Kumar is not a hero, he is not a rebel and he is not that kind of type who  lusts after revenge. He is a simple man that is doing everything in his power to stay alive. He is a desperate man and fears for his life and wants to stay as low as he can. He never do larger than life heroics. But he kept it plain and straight. That is the best part about the movie. Akshay excels in emotional sequences. Nimrat Kaur has less to offer. Her space is limited. She kept it simple and real. We wish she got more space. Rest of them did justice to their roles.

The movie is brilliantly directed by Raja Krishna Menon. The movie is definitely India's answer for Schindler's List. The cinematography is beautiful as it is seen with muted colour. The music will definitely hit you. It will leave an enormous impact. It portrayed the feelings of the main role. Kudos to Ankit Tiwari and Amaal Malik for such a Music. Priya Seth's cinematography also deserves special mention.  Visual effects are realistic and that matters a lot here. Definitely Bollywood is elevated to new level here.

'Airlift' is an interesting film. One can admire it for it's subject material.  The movie is about story of a survival. There are people who wanted to live and there are no guaranteed tomorrow's. Akshay Kumar is amazing in the title role. He certainly deserves National award. The supporting cast is also excellent.
