'Pokkiri Raja' is a multi starrer project which features Jiiva and Sibiraj together. Sibiraj is doing role of an antagonist after 'Naanayam'. Ram Prakash Rayappa of 'Tamizhukku Enn Onrai Aluthavum' fame directs the project. 'Puli' fame P.T.Selvakumar funded the movie. Hansika has essayed female lead and D.Imman scored tunes. PTS Film International banner has produced the movie under their production house. So what is this movie all about ? It's a simple love story with a routine screenplay. Jiiva loves Hansika and Hansika loves back Jiiva too. But troubles fall into place with Sibiraj showing up on screen. He pokes his nose and creates trouble. As always things mess up and how the protagonist comes out of the mess is shown in a commercial manner.

Coming to performances, Jiiva has rocked as 'Raja' and Sibiraj has rocked as 'Guna'. Hansika is just a glam doll and more than her performance she has done a good skin show. Ramdoss, Manobala, Mayilsamy, Yogibabu have done justice to their roles. Yogi Babu's comedy is the next best thing after Hansika's skin show. He is sure to be a numero uno comedy actor in Kollywood. Jiiva who has made a come back after two years shows his energy and charisma. He's such an amazing bundle of energy. But he must still work more on script selection. He already proved his versatility by doing roles like 'Katrathu Tamizh', 'Ram'. He shouldn't let it go by doing commercial potboilers. Sibiraj once again has got a movie to show his muscle. In many scenes, we can see shades of his dad. But we don't complaint that as it was enjoyable. Hansika on other hand was wasted to core. Her expressions are annoying and she mostly tries to create a 'Over scene'. After doing de-glam roles in few movies, she has decided to strip her outfits. But that never suited her.

'Pokkiri Raja'has nothing to do much in technical side. To be honest, this is a simple commercial entertainer. D.Imman's music is below par. Except two main tracks, the rest are not so catchy. No wonder what has Imman done. He completely lacks the panache. Background score for Sibiraj is alone attractive. Ramprakash Rayappa who gave a different genre on his debut has taken the usual commercial route. Also there were lots of cliches. Gnangiri who has penned dialogues has done some good work. Few dialogues with respect to love and friendship were good. Anji's cinematography is colourful and they have shown various dimensions with respect to the scene mood. This is something new for Kollywood. If you look close, the hint of colour tone changes based on the mood of characters. Sabu Joseph once again proves his skill in editing portion. He has kept the running time right on track. However he could have trimmed the length of action scenes. But Anji's cinematography and Sabu Joseph's editing are the major strengths of tis movie.

The movie is not a must watch or a not-t0-be missed flick. The movie has its moments and laughs here and there. Jiiva and Sibiraj have given their best, but still a sloppy screenplay spoils the show. Imman's songs are average and nothing worked in favour of the movie really.
