Malini (Nithya Menon) works as a Nurse in a corporate Hospital and she dreams to work in Canada. She meets a guy named Varun (Krish) and falls in love with him. She even decides to go with a live in relationship. But things take a turn as Malini gets raped by Varun's boss Prakash (Naresh). Malini goes upset after this incident. She moves to another city and even there she gets raped once again. And after the rape she is even thrown behind bars on Drugs case. Now Malini tries to take revenge on those who raped her. How she takes the revenge forms the rest of the story.
Naresh is the surprise package of the film and does supremely well in his role. He carried such a role with utmost ease. But he just came for few minutes. Nithya Menen as helpless rape victim has fit the role perfectly. The scene where she gets traumatized after getting raped showcase her acting prowess. Rest of the cast has done justice to their roles.
The original was a huge hit in Malayalam and was again remade in Telugu. The movie even came in Tamil earlier. Screenplay was brilliant in Malayalam version and that is not the same case here. Music was also weak. It never gave the deserved goosebumps. Comedy scenes featuring Kovai Sarala takes us out of radar. Editing is also too lengthy. Climax itself tests our patience. Audience who are already having a tough time outside are facing even more annoying time. Also the plot begins as love story, then a female centric one finally ends as revenge drama ! Production values are too low.
Ghatana tries to pass a hard hitting message. But Public themselves are tormented due to the cash crunches and this is not the right time to deliver the message. Nithya Menen alone carries the movie forward. Kudos to Sri Divya for not making the rape scenes in a vulgar manner. There is absolutely no novelty in the entire proceedings.
