The story revolves around Puliyooru village which was under the tension of man eating Tiger. Kumar ( Mohanlal) is the only guy who fights against the tiger with the help of his deadly skills. He is also a lorry driver and was caught in a drug case and was sent out from the village which is already in danger. Who will rescue the people and the village is the rest of the story.

The stunt scenes and thrilling suspense is the highlight of the movie. There are three terrific sequences involving the Tiger and Mohanlal  which have been designed on a superb note. They are quite thrilling and the background score given by Gopi Sunder is amazing. Kamalinee Mukherjee has done a decent job and she has acted as Mohanlal's wife in Manyam Puli. Jagapathy Babu had done a decent and neat performance.

Director Vysakh right from his mass scenes to directing him in the action episodes, he has done a very clever job as the action episodes never look over the top keeping Mohanlal's personality and age in mind. The length of the film also a bit long and there are some fights which could have been toned down. Namitha’s role looks outright silly and cheap and disturbs the film completely. Camera work by Shaji Kumar is just amazing and the dense jungle and all the hero elevation scenes have been shown in an awesome way.

Manyam Puli worked mainly in Malayalam because of some stunning thrills and Mohanlal's massy act which is at its peak here. But from the Telugu audience point of view, this film can be only watched for some amazing thrills which are placed at regular intervals. The stunt choreographer has done an amazing job. Rest of the actors have done justice to their roles.
