Aditya alias Aadi (Aditya Roy Kapoor) is a video game developer who accidentally meets Taara (Shraddha Kapoor) at his relative's wedding. He later finds out she is planning to pursue her studies in Paris. They soon begin to call each other often, go out together, and start to fall in love during a holiday they take together. They agree that marriage is not for them and decide to have a live-in relationship instead, and Taara moves into Adhi's place. Post marriage, both of them continue to accomplish their own dreams, one in Paris, and another in US. And they live happily, married and in love with each other.

The way Aadi and Tara slowly get influenced by Leela Samson and Naseerudhin Shah is handled subtly, yet beautifully. The director needs to be applauded and suddenly you realize the film isn’t actually about the young couple; it’s about the older couple who sort of remind us that no matter what, we all need a life partner. A R Rahman’s music and background scores are melodious and lovely. Aditya and Shraddha's chemistry has worked very well and they have acted romantically.

Ravi K Chandran has done an excellent cinematography work and the editing part was performed by A Sreekar Prasad. The end feels predictable, but if you paid attention from the beginning, the intention of the director was not to celebrate live-in relationships though he does to an extent but it was always about falling in love and happily living ever after. However, the magic created by Maniratnam is missing in this Hindi version. Screenplay magic is completely shallow in Hindi version. A.R.Rahman's music is mesmerizing and it is flawless.

The movie is sure to leave you with an everlasting smile on your face. The movie, which marks the auteur’s comeback to the romance genre after a decade, is a refreshing take on contemporary romance and relationship. The movie is the remake of Tamil movie of Maniratnam's O Kadhal Kanmani and the movie has earned positive accolades from many. It’s easy to say Maniratnam has played it safe with “O Kadhal Kanmani”. Maybe he did, given the risks he has taken with his previous works, but its fine because it’s been a long time since his film has been so enjoyable. This is his best work in years and this magical spell won’t be forgotten easily.
