What Is Bad
Mohanlal plays Ulahannan/Unnachan, a grouchy Panchayat secretary obsessed with his work and lost in a boredom of his own making that he then attributes to the daily grind and his wife. Meena plays his unhappy spouse Annieamma/Annie, craving for his affection. Their children Jini and Jerry complete their small home. Watch the middle aged couples story and their problem overcoming techniques.
Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol, which is loosely based on the Malayalam short story Pranayopanishad, looks like a drag for the first 30 minutes. You may also start worrying that the film is likely to put you to sleep by narrating the complex political situation of a small town in Kerala. Mohanlal and Meena have enacted phenomenally. They are surrounded by strong actors including old hands Anoop Menon, Kalabhavan Shajon and Alencier Ley Lopez portraying Unnachan’s friends, Suraj Venjaramood as the Panchayat president and Sudheer Karamana as his corrupt puppeteer.
The movie’s strength is undoubtedly its script and dialogues written by M Sindhuraj. Bijibal’s background score keeps the family entertainer from being over melodramatic while also sustaining the feel-good mood throughout. Mohanlal has acted excellently and after his Pulimurugan this movie is perfect in many aspects, which will satisfy his fans to a greater extent. The realistic acting is the plus for the movie.
There is a point at which a couple of parents in Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol become concerned that their child might be sexually active in her teens. That passage is handled with extreme care so as not to take any particular position on pre-marital sex. The director has shown the parental care which is important for an adolescent aged girls. It seems designed to avoid the anger of those who condemn pre-marital sex and those who do not. Munthirivallikal Thalirkumbol is one of the better family oriented movies to come out in Mollywood after a long time and is worth watching this weekend.
Rakul Preet is upset as her Flop Streak continues... Rising Kollywood hero Karthi was last seen on screen in the rural mass entertainer Kadaikutty Singam directed by Pandiraj and costarring Sayyeshaa, which went on to become one of the biggest blockbusters of the year.
