The movie's story revolves around a guy name Guna (Vikram Prabhu) who is all serious about the gangster life. Niranjana (Manjima Mohan) is a girl from Tiruchirapalli. An intense action thriller gave the film much hype with the true incident. This is a realistic narration of a gangster’s lifestyle. You will never see the hero Vikram Prabhu onscreen, but only the character Guna. Vikram has done action and stunts which are believable.

Vikram Prabhu and Manjima Mohan have paired for the very first time through the thriller Satriyan. Manjima Mohan had done a good job to her character. Director S.R. Prabhakaran has taken an age old story of a gangster reforming after falling in love and being advised by his lover. The supporting cast includes Sharath Lohitashwa, Aruldoss, R.K.Vijay Murugan, Soundararajan and Poster Nandakumar have been seen in crucial roles.

Yuvan Shankar Raja had scored the music outstandingly and is melodious to hear. Sivakumar Vijayan had made the cinematography work neatly and the editing part was performed by M. Venkat. The movie is bankrolled by Sathyajyothi Films Company and distributed by Saattai Karthick. The technical aspects of the movie is good, but the only negative thing in the movie is the screenplay.

Vikram Prabhu has done a neat job and is as usual good in action sequences. Manjima Mohan looks at her homely best and represents a girl from a second tier city like Trichy. When it comes to acting, she has done justice to the character. Meanwhile despite the slow narration and below average second half, ‘Sathriyan’is worth a watch for the initial surprises, some good scenes, powerful dialogues and a praiseworthy message against violence.
