Director Karthik Subbaraj, known to be one of the trendsetters of current generation of young Directors, by making a Mark with his 3 movies Pizza, Jigarthanda and Iraivi , in 3 different genres, this time returns in a new avatar as a producer, with Meyaadha Maan starring Vaibhav and Priya Bhavani Shankar, directed by Debutant Rathna Kumar. Has the team succeeded in their attempt in scoring a festive hit with their small flick? Here's team AP Herald's exclusive review .

The film begins with Idhayam Murali (Vaibhav) attempting suicide, as he gets to know that his lover Madhumitha (Priya Bhavani Shankar) is getting engaged, and his friends Vinoth (Vivek Prasanna) and Kishore (Arun Prasath) rush to talk to Madhu and make her degrade Murali's love, which ultimately changes his decision to die, and he also decides to live his life happily. However, an year later, situations bring Murali and Madhu together, and they fall in Love again. Did Murali win his love the second time around, is what the hilarious Meyaadha Maan is all about.

Vaibhav, as Idhayam Murali is excellent, and this is sure to be branded his career best act, as he aces the act of a loser in love, a coward who doesn't have the guts to express his love and gains confidence only with booze. As his sister, newbie Indhuja gets to play a meaty role with Amazing screen presence, and her scenes with Vaibhav with the brother - sister bonding are an absolute treat to watch.  Vivek Prasanna is at extreme ease and is at his casual best as Vaibhav's sidekick, and his sequences with Indhuja deserve an applause. Debutant heroine Priya Bhavani Shankar tries hard to emote, but couldn't quite make the necessary impact on debut , as her presence is completely overshadowed by Indhuja - Vaibhav.

Santhosh Narayanan and Pradeep Kumar have given an absolute musical treat, as both the background score as well as the rocking numbers , especially the Thangachi song and Address song, and as Meyaadha Maan is a musical subject, their score is an asset to the movie. Vidhu Ayyana's Cinematography captures the sets replicating North Chennai beautifully and makes the sets look realistic, gelling well with the screenplay.

Debutant director Rathna Kumar has opted to start his career with a tried and tested formula of a local boy falling for a beautiful girl, and though the plot has such a huge predictability, shines, thanks to the humor he has infused in the screenplay generously. Besides, the characterizations of Vaibhav as Idhayam Murali (aptly titled after the hero of Tamil movie Idhayam who fails to express his love everytime) , and Indhuja and Vivek Prasanna are extremely appealing and find an instant connect to the audience.

With good music that acts as the soul of Meyaadha Maan and top class Cinematography, the movie could have made wonders with even more care on the screenplay, but suffers slightly due to drags in the screenplay and several cliched scenes, besides the track involving Vivek Prasanna- Indhuja appealing more than the scenes involving lead pair. All said , Meyaadha Maan is definitely a decent one time watch for its earnest performances and some great music.
