After months of hype and hoopla over the erotic content and the issues related to the title, besides involvement of the ex CBFC head Pahlaj Nihalani and the plot resemblance to the life and times of a real actress adding to the fire, Raai Laxmi's debut flick as a heroine in Bollywood, Julie 2 has released today. Here's team AP Herald's exclusive first on net review of the sizzling Julie 2.

The film revolves around the life of Julie, an aspiring actress who starts on a low profile manner in Bollywood, yet rises in the industry turning into a hot and happening actress, her affair with a south star, her entry into the life of a cricketer, the sexual abuses, casting couch and threats she undergoes and how she ultimately saw both rise and fall and sustained in the dark industry.

Raai Laxmi plays the title role with extreme ease, as the sexy actress strips to a bikini in many sequences and has even featured in bold topless shots and Daring liplock sequences without much fuss, and oozes oomph on screen. Not just the scenes, she also creates a lasting impact with her erotic dance moves and sensuous attires and expressions in the songs, making her performance, more of an extended version of her item dance appearances in south films, rather than make people notice her emotional performance.

Ravi Kishan is a typical Bollywood stereotypical representation of a south hero with fake accents, fake looks and costumes, and he leaves no impact other than getting to shake a leg with the sizzling Raai Laxmi. The rest of the cast including Pankaj Tripathi, Aditya Srivastava fail to make any impact, as the film is all about Raai Laxmi.

The Mala Sheena and Karama Karama numbers and the Julie title number are appealing, purely credited to Raai Laxmi scorching screens and seducing audience with her extreme glam Avatar, and nothing to do with Viju shah, whose background score is also below par. Sameer Reddy's Cinematography is bang on, as it doesn't miss to capture anything it was supposed to - Raai Laxmi's stunning physique in all its glory and present it colorfully to the audience.

Deepak Shivdasani returns after 13 years with a namesake sequel to his 2004 erotic thriller that starred Neha And turned a surprise hit, with yet another erotic flick, but this time around, he fails big time, as he has concentrated more on exposing Raai Laxmi in different skimpy attires and making her prance around in bikinis, appear topless, kiss every costar in the movie, and involve in love making, and the movie almost becomes a sort of a celluloid cycle - Song- Kiss- Sex, And then repeat, with just the male costar getting changed.

Had Deepak focused more on the script rather than rehashing flicks like The dirty picture yet again, and trying to capitalise purely on the presence of a stunning hot actress like Raai Laxmi who can set the screen on fire, Julie 2 could have been a better product. Sadly it isn't, and with the uninteresting, cliched screenplay that drags to around 3 hours adding to the worries, Julie 2 is a bore, that settles somewhere between soft porn and a pure B Grade flick. Better luck next time at South, Raai Laxmi.
