The gorgeous pimple Beauty Sai Pallavi, is back on screens after the blockbuster success of her debut Telugu flick Fidaa, where she played the energetic hybrid pilla Bhanumathi, this time with a dubbed flick. Hey Pillagada released today, is the dubbed version of the Malayalam hit Kali, and has Malayalam heartthrob Dulquer Salmaan playing Sai's pair. Here's team AP Herald's exclusive FDFS review of Hey Pillagada.


Anjali (Sai Pallavi) and Siddharth (Dulquer Salmaan) are a happily married young couple, who Marry against the wishes of their parents. When things are about to turn happy with Siddharth getting a job in bank and the family accepts them, his one big problem affects the couple big time - anger management. As Anjali gets embarrassed by Siddharth's anger, she starts to her home, and Siddharth drives her home. As that couple stop at a dhaba, problems arise when the dhaba owner Vinayakan's friend Vinod starts troubling Anjali.


Now the couple have to fight against Vinayakan - Vinod who threaten them after Siddharth's angry outburst. What happens to the couple, were they able to overpower the evil duo and was Siddharth able to bring his anger management issues to control is what the thrilling Hey Pillagada is all about.

Dulquer Salmaan as the angry young man is impressive, as he typically represents a man with temper issues, with his Energetic and intense act. Sai Pallavi, plays a role that requires her to be emote and express grief, fear and the inability to control her husband's anger and the trouble of facing embarassment perfectly.


Vinayakan and Chemban Vinod are menacing as the evil antagonists who trouble the couple with their terrifying body language and moves. Soubin Sahir gives the much needed comic impact in the first half.

Gopi Sundar's music is an asset to Hey Pillagada, as his two songs are humworthy and his terrific rage theme sets the mood for the terrific thriller and is sure to give instant goosebumps. Gireesh Gangadharan's Cinematography is top notch, as it captures the second half which is totally filled with dark, night time shots to perfection. At a crisp 2 hours runtime, Vivek Harshan's taut editing makes Hey Pillagada an engaging watch.


Cinematographer turned Director Sameer Tahir has returned to direction after Neelakanta pachakadal chuvanna Bhoomi, and this time around, he has chosen a simple plot of an angry young man and his love, and where his anger management issues take him and his beloved wife to. 

Sameer presents the movie in the format of 2 different halves in two different genres, the first half being a romantic one and the second half being a thrilling section, giving the audience an experience of watching two movies in one ticket.


With an engaging, pacy screenplay supported by towering performances by Sai Pallavi, Dulquer and Vinayakan, Hey Pillagada, which was released to capitalise on the craze of Sai Pallavi after Fidaa success, makes it a worthy decision and a safe bet for the weekend.
