Story

After playing  mass hero in several movies over his first 10 years in the industry as a hero, Nandamuri Kalyan ram has turned to playing a lover boy for the first time in his career, in Naa Nuvve, directed by ad filmmaker Jayendra , known for making 180, and also starring Tamannaah in a sizzling avatar. Has Naa Nuvve worked? Here's team AP Herald's exclusive first on net Naa Nuvve review.

The movie begins with Meera (Tamannaah) waiting at the railway station and moves on to flashback mode, where Meera, a radio jockey, is sharing her love story to listeners. Meera falls in love with Varun (Kalyan Ram), even without seeing him, impressed by his good character, and they start loving each other and develop love with imaginations itself. They wait to meet each other, but consequences lead to misunderstandings between them as well, and the couple has a turbulent relationship. Was Varun able to unite with Meera is what Naa Nuvve is all about.

Star Performance

Kalyan Ram for the first time plays a romantic character, and though he tries hard to look the smart and suave Varun, his usual massy self-comes out in most parts, and he is just about adequate. Tamannaah is a revelation as she has performed impressively, expressing her emotions, pain, angst, love, and has also sizzled like never before, making intimate romance and uninhibited glam in songs. Comedian Vennela Kishore and Bithri Sathi evoke few laughs, while Tanikella Bharani, LB Sriram, and Priyadarshi are adequate.

Techinical Team

Background score by Sharreth is soothing and soulful, and his music is the lifeline of Naa Nuvve, as all his songs, including Nijamaa Manasa, Premika, Chiniki Chiniki and Hey ILU are impressive and hum-worthy. Cinematography by ace cameraman PC Sreeram is stunning and top notch, as he makes sure Naa Nuvve is filled with pleasant visuals that are eye pleasing. Taut editing makes sure Naa Nuvve has a crisp runtime of two hours and 5 minutes. Director Jayendra, who had previously delivered the disaster 180 way back in 2011, has made a comeback to direction with Naa Nuvve.

Analysis

While he has chosen an interesting plot of lovers developing love with imagination, and their pain and struggles to meet each other, overcoming all the misunderstandings, and situations look good on paper, he has failed to convert it visually into a coherent screenplay on screen. While Tamannaah shoulders the movie entirely, Kalyan looks out of place in most sequences. The screenplay, despite being just 2 hours and 5 minutes, moves on a leisurely pace in the first half, with unnecessary humor scenes, while the songs, though good, pop up at regular intervals. The love story lacks logic, and is filled with uninteresting episodes in the name of imaginary love, and keeps dragging in the second half as well. Despite the honest attempt of Tamannaah, and impressive works by music director Sharreth and cinematographer PC Sreeram, Naa Nuvve ends as a mediocre attempt from Director Jayendra, that ends as a dampener.
