Last seen in Tamil playing a scheming young power crazy politician antagonist in the Dhanush starrer Kodi, the slim and sexy babe Trisha, who's been ruling south film industry for more than a decade, is back in Tamil, with her latest offering, Mohini. This is the third horror flick starring the beauty, after Aranmanai 2 and Nayagi, and let's see if she has succeeded this time around, with director Madhesh's screenplay. Vaishnavi (Trisha) is a chef in India and she comes to London for her friend's boyfriend (Yogi Babu). She's saved from harrassments and other troubles by a Ghost. Her friends find out she's haunted by a Ghost Mohini. What does Mohini have to do with Vaishnavi? Has Mohini got her revenge? Watch on the big screen.
Trisha is a revelation, as she aces the dual roles with elan, and displays subtle variations between both the characterizations. As the innocent and charming Vaishnavi, Trisha looks cute and gorgeous than ever, and transforms from her romantic best with Jackky to the spirit possessed girl threatening to take lives, with her perfect body language.
As Mohini, the spirit vying for revenge, Trisha is at her menacing best. Yogi Babu and team tickle the funny bone evoking generous laughs, while Jackky Bhagnani makes an underplayed debut. Mukesh Tiwari is convincing in his Negative act.
Vivek Mervin's eerie background score sets the tempo of the movie and elevates few horror sequences perfectly. Of his songs, Hey and bomb figure baby are impressive. Guru Dev's Cinematography is top notch, capturing the exotic locales beautifully, while also presenting the action sequences in second half well. Dinesh ponraj's editing could have been better in the first half.
After directing movies like Arasangam and working in the animation movie Kochadaiyaan, director Madhesh is back,this time directing a horror flick, with Trisha in the lead.
The plot though is the usual revenge themed one, Madhesh has differentiated it well, with Trisha shouldering the responsibility beautifully, displaying ample variations between Mohini and Vaishnavi and unlike her hot bikini act and glamour ghost avatar in aranmanai 2, the sensuous hottie gets to perform in Mohini, and her performance is the key here.
Though the first half moves at a leisurely pace without much proceedings, with Yogi Babu entertaining with his comedy, right from pre-interval block the movie gains momentum and picks pace after getting into the plot. Though the CG could have been much better, Trisha makes up for it with her impressive body language and performance and uber glam screen presence, sizzling hot on screen.
Madhesh's twists in the second half and the racy screenplay help the audience overcome the first half slowness, and keeps the audience engaged, ultimately ending up as a perfect horror feast. All said, Mohini is a fine horror flick that has brought back Trisha, the performer.
