After delivering two back to back hits with Bhale Manchi Roju and Shamantakamani, young maker Sriram Aditya is back on screens this time with a multistarrer Devadas, starring King Nagarjuna and Natural Star Nani both of whom are in need of a hit after their miserable last outings Officer and Krishnarjuna Yuddham respectively, Here;s team AP Herald's first on net Devadas review.

Das (Nani) is leading a peaceful life as a doctor in a hospital with his love for Pooja (Rashmika Mandanna). Enters the don Deva (Nagarjuna), who has a rivalry with Dada (Sarathkumar) and his son (Naveen Chandra) and David(Kunal Kapoor) gangs, and after a shootout, Das rescues Deva, and the duo gets to know each other. Now Deva tries to help Das in his love, and Das too sets out on a mission to unite Deva with his love Jahnavi(Aakanksha Singh). However Dada and David are not calm enough to leave Deva at peace, and they trouble him, and now Das too gets embroiled in the crime web due to his attempts to help Deva. Was Das able to unite with Pooja and unite Jahnavi with Deva, and was Deva able to bump off Dada and gang and return to a peaceful life, and whether Devadas ultimately achieved their desires is what the humorous entertainer is all about.
King Nagarjuna looks stylish and dapper and as Deva the don, he has a strong screen presence, and he excels be it in the action episodes or in the humorous scenes with Nani, or the places where he tries to romance Aakanksha, and shows a wide variety, Nani, as the innocent Das in trouble, and as the doctor who falls for the charming Rashmika and finds it tough to express is apt. Rashmika Mandanna and Aakanksha Singh don't have much to do but the two girls look gorgeous on screen playing perfect eye candies. Sarathkumar is menacing, while Naveen Chandra and Kunal Kapoor provide him ample support. The rest of the cast including Avasarala Srinivas, Naresh, and Vennela Kishore are adequate.

Background score by Manisharma is massy and perfect for the theme of the movie, and especially elevates Deva very well, while the same cannot be said of his songs, as none of the songs except Emo and Lakumira appeal. Cinematography by Shamdat Sainudeen captures the grand canvas of the multistarrer effectively and presents Devadas as a visually appealing outing. Editing by Prawin Pudi is taut and makes sure Devadas is tight.

Sriram Aditya has returned after two movies with smaller heroes, this time with the more established and talented Nagarjuna and Nani, and at a situation when both demand big hits in their career after setbacks, and he has delivered it well. Be it the variation in characters between Nag as the don or Nani as the doctor, Sriram Aditya has perfectly differentiated the duo to give them ample scope to offer a treat for their respective fans, and with the humour being laced throughout screenplay and the twists and turns in the second half, after a normally paced first half establishing numerous characters, Devadas is entertaining and gripping.

With a decently paced screenplay, and with Nag and Nani in top form along with pretty girls Rashmika and Aakanksha, despite drags at several places in the first half, and the unwarranted song placements with none of the songs appealing, with the help of a good technical team including Shamdat Sainudeen and Prawin, Srirarm Aditya has ensured Devadas is a complete entertainment package with humour and action. All said, Nag and Nani return to winning ways finally with Devadas.
